I need one of these to brighten up my day. Everything’s grey and wet outside. Probably cold too, I don’t know. I’m at home, listening through lots of music to find something worth playing at my next DJ gig (Monday Nov 16), this time it won’t be all party party, I’m thinking something more along the lines of Mellow Monday. Yesterday I celebrated Father’s day thinking I should be happy not being a part of my dad’s life. And I am, both happy and lucky. I’ve been sad for years and of course a part of me still is, but as the years go by, and suddenly it’s 7 years on, I’ve come to realize I’m not the one missing out. What do I care when I have so many amazing people in my life? Yesterday I celebrated Father’s day with Niklas and his parents. His dad cooked us the most amazing Serbian dinner and we spent a calm and lovely evening together. Tomorrow my mother’s coming to visit, we’ll probably spend the day Christmas shopping. My dad ain’t getting no congratulations from me, I congratulate myself for finally coming to terms.

Yesterday I went to the movies with Niklas and Malin to see (500) Days of Summer. I knew nothing about the film but I’ve already been obsessing the soundtrack for some time. The film was as lovely as the soundtrack. Though they are completely different, it reminded me somewhat of 2 days in Paris, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Perhaps a bit more American. OK, they don’t have much in common at all but it left me with the same feeling. A very pleasant feeling. You gotta love a film that begins to the sound of Regina Spektor’s Us. And later on breaks your heart with a big, fat, beautifully filmed reality check to the sound of her Hero. The film seems to be directed by someone who, just like Tom, has spent his teenage years sitting in his boy room listening to depressing British music. I honestly wonder what the director has been up to before making this movie. I’m pretty sure he’s been lying in his bed listening to The Smiths.

And that’s just a few reasons out of hundreds to love (500) Days of Summer.

I’ve finally found a place where I can feel at home. A place we can call K. It’s a secretive club located in a warehouse somewhere in Stockholm. It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely for me. And that’s where I spent my Saturday, in a totally different world in a warehouse in Stockholm. The first person we ran into wanted to sell us half a KILO of amphetamine. I guess you get the general idea.

I went along with Niklas + two friends. I love my friends. They’re positive and happy and they don’t think I have crazy ideas when I have crazy ideas, they’re up for anything and say let’s go and they go just like that. That’s what I like.

The clubs in Stockholm aren’t very exciting. Some are exceptionally bad but most are just boring, nothing special, the same old recipe over and over. DJ’s are underpaid and undervalued, service doesn’t exist and the majority of them close at 1 or 3 am. They’re OK but there’s usually no wow factor, nothing alluring and tempting, nothing that makes you want to come back weekend after weekend.

But K is a different story. I knew there had to be places like this even in Sthlm, I just didn’t know where to find it. The music keeps you dancing all night and they close during the late morning. People don’t go just to shove down the beer and go home. This is more of an experience. Which is why I don’t tell the entire world about it even though I’m ecstatic, euphoric and lyric about this place.

K is a gem I’ll keep close to my heart, to myself and for my appreciative friends, it’s a secret I share with all my newly found soul mates and nothing I would miss for the world. In my mind and heart I’m already a regular and I can’t wait for the next date and the next. There’s no better way to push the darkness away. Cheers.

I am still mentally euphoric and physically in a bad shape after Saturday’s adventures. Niklas is as intelligent and critical as ever: check it out. Is it silly to care about these things or is it worth a thought? I think he has a valid point.

It’s Friday night and I’m at home, sick and tired with a sore throat. I try to cure myself with a cup of tea and a look at my vi.sualize collection. Though it may not work miracles, at least it serves as a great source of inspiration for me. Loves it.

Jan was my therapist. He was usually right and I was ignorant. It was 2006 and I had the worst period of my life ahead of me. We parted and this is what he said.

“Tips from Jan: Use your brain. Trust your feelings but don’t trust them blindly. Sometimes your feelings convince you, but you’re wrong. Try to look at the facts. REALITY. & don’t ignore everything all the time.”

A blog I’ve mentioned briefly before and absolutely love is Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands. Looking through the new site on tumblr I stumbled across this beautiful piece on Okkervil river’s Seas too far to reach. While I’ve tried to explain Okkervil’s music a hundred times and failed at each attempt, it moves me to tears to read what I’ve been thinking all along, unable to put into words. It’s a lifetime of yearning and I’m desperately trying to find the cure buried in the sound of Okkervil river, thinking they might very well be the cure.

YES! I’ve got tickets to see Backstreet boys here in Stockholm! Now you’re probably thinking “Backstreet boys – how cool is that?” and then I’ll just reply with this. I’ve been a fan since I was 7 years old but I have never actually seen them live. I have no excuse. I’ve spent hours outside their hotel, I’ve met them, all that. A bit of visual proof, a picture I took of Nick Carter and my friend Linnéa during Nick & Paris Hilton’s vacation in Stockholm back in July 2004:

I can’t believe I haven’t seen them onstage. It’s definitely about time! December 4 is the date, Hovet the place. Nik, Maylinn and I will be there with the rest of Stockholm’s 13 year olds and older faithful Backstreet fans. Love, Mrs Carter
